Nice

Our third base in Provence was Nice, a large bustling city on the French Riviera. It is home to universities, museums, and the second-largest tourist desination in France. Located at the foot of the Alps next to the Mediterranean, it is a naturally beautiful setting. We took a bus tour around the city, visited art museums (Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse),   and did a lot of walking in the older part of town.

At the excellent Marc Chagall museum, most of the collection is devoted to his Old Testament religious paintings, and images of many of them are presented here.
