Description | Habitat: Sandy, gravelly or rocky soils of the Edwards Plateau. Plant: Erect annual up to 17 inches tall. Leaves: Numerous dark green, basal leaves without petioles; narrow linear to lanceolate blades, 2 to 9 inches long, smooth to very slightly hairy, smooth edges. Inflorence: Spike from less than an inch to almost 3 inches long, with of many small flowers, and supported on a hairy peduncle (stalk) 3-1/2 to 9 inches long.
