| Description | Habitat: Calcareous soils and granitic gravelly soils in open areas along roadsides, in pastures, shrublands, and hillsides. Plant: Erect, bushy perennial 30 to 40 inches tall with rough coarse-hairy foliage; one to several stout stems branched in upper portions. Leaves: Hairy, deeply pinnately-lobed, 8 to 12 inches long; basal leaves on petioles; stem leaves fewer, smaller and sessile. Inflorescence: Terminal cluser of a few to several bright yellow daisy flower heads 1 to 2 inches across; 8 rays with 3 minute teeth on tips; yellow disk florets; involucre with three rows of hairy phyllaries. Bloom Period: March to July.
