Lost Maples State Natural Area

Lost Maples State Natural Area is a large area of beautiful hills and canyons on the upper Sabinal River on the Edwards Plateau, located near Vanderpool southwest of Kerrville.  It is designated a Natural Area, rather than a State Park, meaning that the primary focus is the maintenance and protection of the property's natural state.

The photos below were taken on two different occasions. The first four were taken at Nov. 28, 2012, and the others Nov. 3, 2019. We missed the best fall colors both times.

The last few are from along the Guadalupe River west of Kerrville, around Hunt in 2012.
