Carcassonne is mid-sized city near the eastern part of Pyrenees. It is famous for its amazing fortified Medieval City, or Cité de Carcassonne, that dates back to Roman times. The structures that are there today date from the 11th to 14th centuries, and were restored in the 19th century. Click here for more information about the city.
We spent three nights in Carcasonne, staying in a converted apartment house B&B adjacent to in the lower part of the city across the River Aude.
