Aix-en-Provence is a university city in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southern France, just north of Marseilles. It was the birthplace of post-Impressionist painter Paul Cézanne. Aix’s main thoroughfare, Cours Mirabeau, is a leafy boulevard lined with baroque fountains, elegant mansions, terrace cafes and brasseries. For this trip it was the site of the Alliance Schlumberger reunion.
