The Mountains

This page is devoted mainly to rocks, lots of them. Because the Guadalupes are a reef formation, the rocks are predominately a very light colored limestone that reflects the colors of sunrises and sunsets beautifully. Shots taken in mid-day don’t show the colors or shadows, so I did not include as many of these.

Most of the photos were taken within short hikes of a US Hwy 62 south and east of the mountains, or along Williams Ranch Road, a dirt road along the west side of the mountains.

Also included are a few photos from the Smith Spring trail, a mile or so east of the park headquarters on US Hwy 62.
