Description | Habitat: Dry caliche, gypsum and sandy-clay soils; open areas on hillsides, prairies. Plant: Upright perennial multiple hairy stems, up to 20 inches tall, normally much shorter. Leaves: Alternate, wide petiolate leaves up to 2 inches long, palmately-divided with lobes that may be further divided or lobed (i.e. pedate); curled edges. Inflorescence: Coral-pink to orange-red flowers, solitary or in clusters, 1-5/8 inch across, 5 petals, many yellow anthers. Bloom Period: April to August.
