| Description |
Habitat: Sandy, rocky limestone or gypsum soils in washes, drainages, roadsides and disturbed areas. Plant: Erect, stout, hairy perennial 1 to 5 feet tall, few to numerous stems, mostly unbranched. Leaves: Alternate, thick, lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate to linear-lanceolate 1-1/2 to 6 inches long and up to 1-3/4-inches wide, usually less; edges with rounded teeth. Inflorescence: Single or clustered flowers 1-1/4 inch across, 5 petals, cupped, orange to pink to lavender, stamens united in center around the stigma, typical of many of the Mallow family. Bloom Period: Usually April to October but can bloom other times with rain.
