Description |
Habitat: Moist sandy soils along streams, ditches and disturbed areas. Plant: Annual grass solitary or growing in clumps, culms decumbent, often rooting at nodes; erect portion up to 39 inches long. Foliage: Sheaths open, smooth to slightly rough; leaf blades flat, 1/8 to 3/8-inch wide, 1-3/4 to 6 inches long. Inflorescence: Dense terminal panicle 3/4 to 6 inches long, either narrow and spikelike or flattened and broader, ellipsoidal; awns tawny at maturity. Bloom Period: March to July.
