| Description | Habitat: Dry, rocky areas in the Chihuahuan Desert of Texas and New Mexico. Plant: Perennial with few slender decumbent, ascending or erect stems 6 to 12 inches long or more depending on climate and growing conditions; stems and leaves moderately covered with pubescent, glandular hairs. Leaves: Narrow, opposite leaves from a few (~5) nodes along stems; linear blades 2 to 3-1/2 inches long and less than 1/5-inch wide and sessile. Inflorescence: A few pink or purple (or, less common, white) flowers 1 inch or more across with white center; corolla tube opening to 5 ovate lobes. Bloom Period: April to July.
