| Description | Habitat: Damp calcareous or igneous soils in streambeds and openings; 4600 to 6900 feet in the Chisos and Davis mountains of Texas. Plant: Weakly erect perennial, 12 to 20 inches tall, single or multiple stems. Leaves: Basal and lower stem leaves petiolate, 2-3/8 to 4 inches long; upper stem leaves sessile and gradually smaller; blades narrowly lanceolate in outline and deeply pinnatifid with 6+ pairs of lateral lobes with dentate margins. Inflorescence: Clusters of 6 to 20+ composite flowers at the top of short stalks, with several bright yellow blossoms, 3/4-inch across, each with 8 to 13 rays, 40 to 55+ disk florets, and 13 to 21 green phyllaries with yellow tips.
