| Description |
Habitat: Various areas and soils: saline, sandy, gypsum, alkaline or clay soils on mesas, plains, floodplains, flats, seepy areas, ditches, drainages and roadsides. Plant: Erect, weak shrub or large perennial with several vertical stem, mostly smooth; older plants usually woody; 1 to 3-1/2 ft. tall. Leaves: Alternate, narrow linear to linear-oblanceolate blades, 3/8 to 2 inches long about 1/8-inch wide, the edges entire to short-dentate and covered with short hairs; surfaces covered with resinous dots. Inflorescence: Numerous yellow rayless flowers in dense terminal cymes; 7 to 15 disk florets head; cylindrical/turbinate involucres with overlapping phyllaries, straw colored with yellowish or greenish tips.
