| Description |
Habitat: Gravelly, sandy, or loamy flats, rocky slopes, crevices and ledges, streambeds from 1,000 to 6,000 ft. Plant: Erect perennial shrub 20 inches to 5 ft. tall; slender stems herbaceous above and woody, reddish below; stems, leaves and flowering heads are covered with a sticky (glutinous) substance. Leaves: Alternate, sessile, linear to linear-lanceolate stem leaves 3/4 to 2 inches long, sticky surfaces, entire margins. Inflorescence: Many composite yellow flower heads in congested corymbs atop the stems a few inches across; each small blossom with a few ray and disk florets; sticky phyllaries light-green or whitish with pointed, dark green tips.
