| Description | Habitat: Dry, clay soils on plains, mesas, and foothills, 4,000 to 5,500 ft. Plant: Mostly prostrate greyish--green perennial with stems branching from base. Leaves: Stem leaves in tight, crowded clusters, spatulate to oblanceolate, tips rounded or with a small point, 3/4 to 1-1/4 inches long, sub-sessile; surfaces with small pubescent hairs. Inflorescence: A few small blue to violet flowers borne in clusters or single in leaf axils; corollas about 3/4-inch long, bilabiate but appearing to have 5 small lobes; 4 protruding stamens; calyx about the same length as the corolla, cleft into 5 long, pointed segments with small pudbescent hairs.
