Description |
Habitat: Sandy to rocky areas, desert shrublands, woodlands, Big Bend area, desert Southwest and Northern Mexico. Plant: Tufted, mat-forming short grass 2 to about 5 to 6 inches tall; numerous wirey stems. Leaves: Basal leaves, often white, and green stem leaves clustered below inflorescence; blades up to 2 inches long, narrow, linear. Inflorescence: Dense clusters of spikelets, longer than subtending leaf blades, 6 to 12 white florets. Bloom Period: Summer and fall. References: SEINet and Jepson eFlora. |
