Description Habitat: Limey soils in open slopes and prairies in the Hill Country and North Texas.
Plant: Erect perennial 15 to 24 inches tall.
Leaves: Very narrow, smooth, soft leaves borne singly, but very close together all the way up to the flower cluster.
Inflorescence: Pale blue flowers with a narrow 1/2-inch long tube opening into 5 petal-like lobes in a star shape l/2-inch across with a ring of white at the center.
Bloom Period: March and April.

Description Habitat: Limey soils in open areas and clay soils; washes, ravines, slopes of the Trans-Pecos and Central Texas.
Plant: Erect perennial 8 to 24 inches tall, multiple smooth stems from woody base.
Leaves: Alternate, smooth, linear-lanceolate to filiform, 3/4 to 2 inches long.
Inflorescence: Pale blue, rarely white, flowers about one inch across in terminal clusters with a narrow long tube 1 to 1-1/2 inches long opening into 5 petal-like lobes in a star shape; slender corolla tube is constricted at its opening.
Bloom Period: March to May.

Description Habitat: Sandy or rocky soils in open areas the Trans-Pecos region.
Plant: Erect perennial 12 to 32 inches tall, multiple smooth to pubescent (covered with small hairs) stems from woody base.
Leaves: Alternate, narrowly oblong-lanceloate to linear-lanceolate up to 2-3/4 inches long; lower leaves broader.
Inflorescence: Congested terminal cluster of small, very pale blue to white flowers from 1/4 to 1/2-inch across inch across; corolla tube (below lobes) 3/8 to almost 3/4-inch long opening into 5 lobes with small hairs on edges arranged in a star shape. Corolla tube is swollen in the middle and constricted at its opening.
Bloom Period: March to May.
