Greenwich Island

On Saturday, December 16, we were at Greenwich Island.

After leaving Vega Island, we sailed north to Fort Point on Greenwich Island in the South Falklands Islands.  Fort Point is on the southeast coast of the island. It is a conspicuous rocky point rising almost 300 ft. and linked to the island by a low, narrow isthmus almost 1/2-mile long.

Our Zodiac landed on the isthsmus.

Fort Point is home to a colony of assorted penguins, Gentoos, Chinstraps and some Adélies, and a few Elephant seals.

We did the landing in the morning, and later a Special Operations Boat cruise in the area.
