The Drake Passage is the part of the Southern Ocean that lies between the tip of South America and the Antarctic Peninsula, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. It is considered one of the most treacherous voyages for ships to make. Currents meet no resistance from any landmass, and waves can top 40 feet. On our trips across, in both directions, it was relatively calm with only moderate swells. It was what the crew called the “Drake Lake". We were fine with that.
We started across Friday night, sailed all the next day, and were through the passage sometime Sunday morning.
