Scherwiller

Schwerwiller is a small town, about 3100 people, located 16 miles south of Obernai on the Alsace Wine Route. It’s economy is based on wine production. It is another of the picturesque small towns in Alsace.  We spent just a small amount of time there, walking around the town. An interesting monument is that of the US Army 103rd Infantry “Cactus” Division that liberated the town December 1, 1944.

The Aubach River running through the town, pictured below, was used for washing clothes, made easier with the stone benches alongside.
