Gertwiller is located about 20 miles south of Strasbourg. It is a small town of about 1200 people and is famous for pain d’epices (spice bread). Pain d’epices is a lot like gingerbread, and comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. The town was on our route south from Strasbourg so we had to stop and try this local specialty.
