Alsace and the Rhine

In early June, 2024, we traveled to Strasbourg, France, to visit the Alsace region and to attend a reunion of Alliance Schlumberger hosted on a Rhine River cruise. Alliance Schlumberger an organization for retired Schlumberger employees worldwide. We spent a week touring Alsace followed by a 6-night cruise on the Rhine.

We landed in Paris on a flight from Dallas-Ft.Worth, and took the TGV train from the airport to Strasbourg. Once there we rented a car and drove to the nearby town of Obernai and established our base for the next 5 nights.

After our tour of the area we drove back to Strasbourg, returned our car and boarded the CroisiEurope Gerhart Schmitter for our 6-night cruise on the Rhine. For a portion of its length the river is the border between France and Germany. A map, details and photos are shown on the pages beginning with this one.

After the cruise we spent two more nights in Strasbourg seeing sights of that beautiful city.
