Bagan

On January 24, the Schlumberger retirees group headed to the ancient city of Bagan in central Myanmar southwest of Mandalay.

The flight from Yangon arrived in good time but the group was delayed at the Bagan airport by the arrival of Foreign Minister and government leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Standing on the eastern banks of the Irrawady River, Bagan is known for the Bagan Archaeological Area, where more than 2,000 Buddhist monuments tower over the plains. Tom stayed back at the hotel in Yangon and Linda made the trip.
